We've used Cataclean in two family cars in the past month. In each car, the check engine light turned off and they really do run like new. I recommend this product to clean your catalytic converter and make your engine run much more smoothly. As well, the shifting in the auto transmission of each car is much smoother.

I did a few things at the same time as I used Cataclean so I can't say all the improvements are entirely from this product. I did noticed the exhaust came out alittle faster and had almost no smell on the next tank. I replaced both pre and post catalytic converter Oxygen (O2) sensors. I had an engine light on for one of them. I would have replaced my catayltic converter but it seemed like more work and ripping apart than I wanted to do. So I found this product and ran it through right before I replaced the O2 sensors. I decided to use this over replacement because of all the great reviews on people that had problems with their catalytic converter that said it fixed their problem. I thought this was a good time to do preventative maintenance. I drive a 99 Mitsubishi Galant ES 4-cyl and I got the replacement O2 sensors from Amazon too.

I used this product when my check engine light turned on a few months ago and not only did my check engine light go out but my gas mileage actually improved by 6% as well. I have always been skeptical of products that you pour into your gas tank but this one seems to actually work.

Background includes a 2001 Maxima with about 181,000 miles. Check engine light came on. I got rid of it with Textron fuel injector cleaner and Shell gasoline a couple of time. The CEL came back on and would not go away. I went to Autozone and Advanced Auto for the free scan indicating code P430 (system below threshold bank 2). I was told this code most likely indicated the rear catalytic converter was failing. I confirmed this with some internet research. Price check for the repair was $700 to $900 for a direct fit cat. Pour this stuff in on a Saturday, and light was off within 50 miles of driving. I got the car inspected after driving about 300 miles on the following Tuesday. NH inspection is based on a scanner connected to the car's computer. The inspection does not check actual emmissions. My car passed the computer emissions test. My advice is try this stuff if you have the following codes from the CEL (P420/P430). Autozone and Advanced Auto will perform a free scan for your CEL and provide a print out if you ask. Follow the directions on the bottle,use Shell gas andCataclean Engine and Catalytic Converter Treatment- 16.7 oz. few days before the car requires inspection. It cleared my CEL and my car passed inspection for the computer emissions test. It will not fix ball joints, unfortunately.

After my check engine light came on (2002 Audi A6 2.7T)I was told by Audi service that I needed a new catalytic converter. The total repair was going to cost me over $2 thousand, and that's if they only replaced one of the 2 catlytic converters. It also turns out that my car meets the CA emissions requirements (even though I bought the car in PA) and there are no 3rd party CA catalytic converters made for my car, so I would be stuck with Audi's pricing. Audi reset the warning light for me, but it came back on a couple days later. I stumbled across this Cataclean while searching for replacement catalytic converters. For 25 bucks I figured it was worth a try, especially compared to the expensive $$ alternative. Well it is now 5 months after using Cataclean and my check engine light has not come back on! Also my car just recently passed its emmission inspection, which was performed by Audi service. I highly recommend trying this product if your car's computer is telling you you need a new catalytic converter. If the problem is due to the build up of gunk, then this just might do the trick.
